Grid Project Home | Between 1953 and 1969 Phyllis Nicklin, Geography lecturer at Birmingham University, photographed a dramatically changing Birmingham. For this project we went where Phyllis went, documenting what has happened in the half-century since then.
From April to December 2017, 71 photographers took 857 photographs. You can see their work, juxtaposed with the original Phyllis Nicklin photographs, by following the 'Nicklin Project Locations' link on the left. In January 2018 An exhibition of 30 photographs was shown at The Gunmakers Arms in Birmingham's Gun Quarter. A large exhibition of the project took place at Birmingham Central Library from 14th July - 15th September 2018. A total of 3186 visitors came to see the show during the two months. |
