Grid Project Home | The Birmingham Photographic Grid was completed by a team of photographers in 2007.
The initial idea was to cover Birmingham as far as its boundary. However doing this would have made a display so big it would be virtually impossible to exhibit it. The Number 11 Bus Route is, though, a meaningful thing to many Brummies and could be used as our boundary for this project for this reason. It was the second Grid Project to be exhibited and the most ambitious to date. It was shown as a complete grid of photographs only once, at The Mailbox in Birmingham. The exhibition opened on 31st October 2008 and closed on 6th January 2010. It would not have been possible without the involvement of Jonathan Watkins of Ikon Gallery, Retail Birmingham and Trevor Beattie of BMB Advertising Agency. The project is archived in its entirety, in digital and book format, at the Library of Birmingham Photographs Collection. |
